another half!

so.....i signed up for a half marathon last year and it was crazy hard and i thought i was gonna die, but i kinda loved it! since i was pregnant, i knew i wouldn't run another one for a while. after quincey was born though, i was ready for another goal to get me running again, and the phoenix half was the one :)

this time though, i convinced my hubby to do it with me!

we started training a little late, so i was super nervous of course....

it also hadn't rained in months around here, and on march 1 - phoenix marathon day - it was supposed to downpour all day!!!!

we bagged up our phones so we could listen to our tunes, and we huddled under the heaters around the starting line, and we waited tip start time!

oh and beckam made a lucky bracelet for dad, so we took a pic for him!

they set off some fireworks for us, and it was go time!

and......we did it! i started off at a faster pace than dust, but he caught up to me and passed me (the little jerk!) haha but we both met our goal of running the entire 13.1 miles, and we didn't die! we had fun getting some free food after we finished, and we headed home!

.....or not. believe it or not, our car wouldn't start! the alarm kept going off and it wouldn't even turn over, and my mom was at home with all 4 kiddos and had no idea how to get to us and ya......miserable! we were freezing and i was huddled up holding the door open (cuz if you closed it the alarm would go off) and we had to call a tow truck and wait for like 2 hours and ya - not a great finish to the morning.

we made it home though and instead of loading up and heading back to the race area for the boys to do their 1 mile children's dash, we ran around the block and called it good! they loved it and wore their shirts with pride :)

the aftermath was a little rough for my man! haha there was icing of the knees and random passing out around the house here and there, and limping was his new way of walking, but within a few days all was well! it was such a great goal to set for getting in shape again, and it was soooo fun to do it with dust, and i'm proud of another half in the books!

Holy schnikes!
I'm so impressed. I'm happy when I run and actually go 3 miles.
Way to go you awesome couple you!
So fun to do together!
(Not so fun about the car situation after, but you made the best of it!)
