for cars

this blog is because of my brother and his little hints that the time has come for another update, and i thank him cuz i know that one of the many things i neglect these days (along with laundry, cleaning, sleeping, cooking, etc) is my blog! so.....this one's for you cars! enjoy :)

i had to put these pics up because we're banned from the poytress house these days (cuz miles is sick - boo!), and all i hear all day long from my little becks is "aj, lacey, miles," and he jumps at the sound of the door opening hoping it's aj every time, and he's just missing his favorite big cuz to hang out with. love these boys!

i also love these boys! carson succeeded at surprising me (which is pretty incredible since i'm the surpriser in our family), and he came to visit for a few days :) beckam still tells me that dad's at school and carson's in canada every day. guess his mom just doesn't cut it, especially when i don't have some cool new basketball shoes to fit in with the boys!

pancakes are pretty popular around here, and here is my "dip" (syrup) covered boy happy as can be at breakfast the other day. pancakes - yay!

i have lived here for almost 2 years and never knew that the zoo had bears! well, i knew they had these bears, but they have real ones too, and becks LOVED them (thanks to grandpa hill) the other day when we went for another visit. raaaarrrr!

i had to include a pic of little mad dog, and this is the result of projectile puke coming at me. my reaction was obviously to block it, and that meant it all ended up back on his face! oops!

becks has been trying out the big boy bed lately, and clearly, he's not used to it yet! haha we went to check on him a couple of nights ago, and there he was sleeping away just like this! how, i don't know, but i had to hurry and close the door so that my snorting giggles didn't wake him up. too cute!

speaking of cute, here is my becks! surgery is 2 weeks away, and i can't get enough of his new words, bright smiles, and hilarious sense of humor. he finally jumps with both legs. he loves barney, caillou, and the wiggles. he LOVES to be outside and is such a little boy into sticks, rocks, and dirt at every turn. he loves the pool but doesn't really like the water. he's the cutest nicest big brother ever and just lights up my day every day. love you bubs :)

those moments....

you know those moments when you look down at your beautiful, hilarious, studly, amazing little man and just love life? you know those moments when you look down at that same child and feel like it was just yesterday that they were all swaddled up snoozing in your arms? you know those moments when you're thankful to be the one that child needs when they're sad and wants when it's time to have fun? you know those moments when your heart breaks for that same little one who has to get a super scary kinda major surgery in a few shorts weeks and has no idea? ya....welcome to my life lately!

beck's surgery is scheduled for sept 24th which means we're almost 3 weeks away! i'm getting nervous and dread it more and more every day, but i know that everything will be completely fine and that he'll be all fixed up and better at the same time. it's just so sad to see that glowing completly contagious and awesome little smile and to feel so helpless in protecting him from the crappy thing that i know is coming his way. as moms, we just want to protect and see our kiddies happy, and i just have to hang on to the picture of the future where his little heart is fixed and where i don't have to worry about the what if's when i see that beautiful little smile :) then, i feel good about my protected happy little man!

anyway..... he is getting so big, and i've never loved being a mom as much as i have the last little bit! maddox is dust's and my baby without a doubt with his little chubby cheeks, and he's finally figuring out sleep which is heavenly, and becks just brings joy to my life every day :) he thinks he's so big and so cool and such a stud, especially when it's shaving time with dad! check out the focus - haha!

he's slowly making the transition to his big bed, and here he is the 1st time he actually took a nap in it. can't believe my becks sleeps in a big boy bed! (almost anyway)

he also likes to pick out his own snacks after searching every inch of the cupboards to make sure i'm not hiding any treats :)

and then he settles in for more.....barney! i've tried disney movies and other cartoons but nothing does it for this kid like barney and the wiggles. oh the joys of motherhood!

i've been slow to teach beckam how to feed himself cuz i kinda like clean kids and carpet, but he loves when i let him go at it with a spoon or fork and is pretty good with the fork anyway!

becks is a tooth brushing fool these days! when he can't find the stool, maddox's bathtub does the trick, and he'd stay there all day with the tap running if i let him. so cute!

oh and did i mention we got a van? what the hay is all i can say. never thought i'd see the day but there it is parked in our spot! becks loves the dvd player, and i love that i can change a diaper without pulling over on our 16 hour road trip home in a few weeks, so good nerdy van times around here :)

oneonta

dan and holly lujan are some of our bff's here in portland, and one of the many things we love about them is their knowledge of where we live and the fun things to do. they told us about this cool hike (literally cool - in water the whole hike!), so we waited for a hot day, loaded up the kids, and headed to oneonta falls! aren't they cute!

this hike was very red rock canyon to me (for all of those waterton lovers), and it was awesomely fantastic! you hike in a little streamy creek thingy the whole way, so it's perfect for hot days and good times!

beckam was all about exploring - too bad the slippery rocks weren't more friendly! it was straight to the backpack for him, and he was a little nervous at first but liked it in the end.

it got waist high in a spot or 2, so we were all carrying our things up high. i even managed to get maddox in the sling safe and dry :)

the end was the best part cuz we got to see the falls, and the boys even took some jumps and dives off the side into the freezing cold water! the little boys could have stayed there all day just throwing rocks in the water. oh to be young again!

this is my new favorite pictures of miles - such a little stud!

in the middle of the hike, we encountered the most ginormous log jam i've ever seen! in fact, i almost opted out of the rest of the hike when i walked up and checked it out. after all, i had maddox strapped to my front, and i was in flip flops - surprise surprise!

we all made it across safe and sound though :) whew!
