dan and holly lujan are some of our bff's here in portland, and one of the many things we love about them is their knowledge of where we live and the fun things to do. they told us about this cool hike (literally cool - in water the whole hike!), so we waited for a hot day, loaded up the kids, and headed to oneonta falls! aren't they cute!
this hike was very red rock canyon to me (for all of those waterton lovers), and it was awesomely fantastic! you hike in a little streamy creek thingy the whole way, so it's perfect for hot days and good times!
beckam was all about exploring - too bad the slippery rocks weren't more friendly! it was straight to the backpack for him, and he was a little nervous at first but liked it in the end.
it got waist high in a spot or 2, so we were all carrying our things up high. i even managed to get maddox in the sling safe and dry :)
the end was the best part cuz we got to see the falls, and the boys even took some jumps and dives off the side into the freezing cold water! the little boys could have stayed there all day just throwing rocks in the water. oh to be young again!
this is my new favorite pictures of miles - such a little stud!
in the middle of the hike, we encountered the most ginormous log jam i've ever seen! in fact, i almost opted out of the rest of the hike when i walked up and checked it out. after all, i had maddox strapped to my front, and i was in flip flops - surprise surprise!
we all made it across safe and sound though :) whew!
it was super duper fun, and here is a pic of the whole crew. we love portland and just love it more and more the more fun things we find to do. yay for oneonta falls :)
