you know those moments when you look down at your beautiful, hilarious, studly, amazing little man and just love life? you know those moments when you look down at that same child and feel like it was just yesterday that they were all swaddled up snoozing in your arms? you know those moments when you're thankful to be the one that child needs when they're sad and wants when it's time to have fun? you know those moments when your heart breaks for that same little one who has to get a super scary kinda major surgery in a few shorts weeks and has no idea? ya....welcome to my life lately!
beck's surgery is scheduled for sept 24th which means we're almost 3 weeks away! i'm getting nervous and dread it more and more every day, but i know that everything will be completely fine and that he'll be all fixed up and better at the same time. it's just so sad to see that glowing completly contagious and awesome little smile and to feel so helpless in protecting him from the crappy thing that i know is coming his way. as moms, we just want to protect and see our kiddies happy, and i just have to hang on to the picture of the future where his little heart is fixed and where i don't have to worry about the what if's when i see that beautiful little smile :) then, i feel good about my protected happy little man!
anyway..... he is getting so big, and i've never loved being a mom as much as i have the last little bit! maddox is dust's and my baby without a doubt with his little chubby cheeks, and he's finally figuring out sleep which is heavenly, and becks just brings joy to my life every day :) he thinks he's so big and so cool and such a stud, especially when it's shaving time with dad! check out the focus - haha!
he's slowly making the transition to his big bed, and here he is the 1st time he actually took a nap in it. can't believe my becks sleeps in a big boy bed! (almost anyway)
he also likes to pick out his own snacks after searching every inch of the cupboards to make sure i'm not hiding any treats :)
and then he settles in for more.....barney! i've tried disney movies and other cartoons but nothing does it for this kid like barney and the wiggles. oh the joys of motherhood!
i've been slow to teach beckam how to feed himself cuz i kinda like clean kids and carpet, but he loves when i let him go at it with a spoon or fork and is pretty good with the fork anyway!
becks is a tooth brushing fool these days! when he can't find the stool, maddox's bathtub does the trick, and he'd stay there all day with the tap running if i let him. so cute!
oh and did i mention we got a van? what the hay is all i can say. never thought i'd see the day but there it is parked in our spot! becks loves the dvd player, and i love that i can change a diaper without pulling over on our 16 hour road trip home in a few weeks, so good nerdy van times around here :)

oneonta
dan and holly lujan are some of our bff's here in portland, and one of the many things we love about them is their knowledge of where we live and the fun things to do. they told us about this cool hike (literally cool - in water the whole hike!), so we waited for a hot day, loaded up the kids, and headed to oneonta falls! aren't they cute!
this hike was very red rock canyon to me (for all of those waterton lovers), and it was awesomely fantastic! you hike in a little streamy creek thingy the whole way, so it's perfect for hot days and good times!
beckam was all about exploring - too bad the slippery rocks weren't more friendly! it was straight to the backpack for him, and he was a little nervous at first but liked it in the end.
it got waist high in a spot or 2, so we were all carrying our things up high. i even managed to get maddox in the sling safe and dry :)
the end was the best part cuz we got to see the falls, and the boys even took some jumps and dives off the side into the freezing cold water! the little boys could have stayed there all day just throwing rocks in the water. oh to be young again!
this is my new favorite pictures of miles - such a little stud!
in the middle of the hike, we encountered the most ginormous log jam i've ever seen! in fact, i almost opted out of the rest of the hike when i walked up and checked it out. after all, i had maddox strapped to my front, and i was in flip flops - surprise surprise!
we all made it across safe and sound though :) whew!
it was super duper fun, and here is a pic of the whole crew. we love portland and just love it more and more the more fun things we find to do. yay for oneonta falls :)

psycho mom moment
i had my 1st psycho mom moment the other day, and it all started right here.....
me and becks went over to my friend brandy's to get a little hair cut. i had the diaper bag over my shoulder and the carseat with maddox over my arm, and i was just saying good-bye when i heard a thumping. it only took me a second to connect the thumping with the fact that beckam wasn't right by my side :(
my little stair lover thought he would try going down this treacherous staircase all by himself, and it didn't pan out so good! he tumbled down the whole thing! i turned around in time to see his freaked out little face looking up at me as he log rolled down each and every stair. i screamed a scream that i cannot recreate (trust me, i've tried!). in fact, i didn't even know i could scream like that, but my 1st pyscho mom moment proved me wrong! i was so scared for my little guy, and it was the worst thing ever to watch, in slow motion it seemed, his little body rolling down the stairs. i bolted down that staircase at lightning speed in time to scoop up my freaking out little guy, and my heart was beating so fast! he was totally tough and got over it way before i did, and thankfully, it was more of a log roll than head over heels. even more thankfully, the only proof of my neglectful mom moment was bruises on beck's forehead. weird eh?!?! he doesn't even look like himself without bruises on his head anyway right ;)
anyway, i had to document my neglect and i only wish i could have recorded the pyscho mom that i turned into. all for the sake of my boy though, so it's all good :)
speaking of boy, doesn't this little man look so big! he's seriously so big and is such a little stud. he was 11 lbs almost 2 weeks ago so who knows how much he weighs now, but i have a feeling that he'll be nearing beck's 1 year weight at his 2 month appt! haha he eats all the time, and he eats A LOT! it's taken some getting used to - well it's still taking some getting used to - but i love both of my little guys and can't get enough of these chubby little cheeks and his wide eyed curious little personality!

date day!
we LOVE maddox around here! he is such a little bundle of joy, but he also requires a lot of my attention. i feel bad for becks and for myself as we both miss our one on one time together, so we had a little date day last week :) lace took mads (bless her heart! love ya lace xoxoxo), and me and becks headed out for a little date before naps....
he was pretty excited all suited up in his basketball outfit, and the excitement only increased at our 1st stop - the pet store!
no puppies but lots of fish and cats and birds and pictures of puppies! good times :)
next stop was a shoe store where we tried on some new basketball shoes for becks, and he showed me how fast he could run before we headed out for lunch to none other than his very most favorite place in the whole wide world.....
red robin! it did not disappoint as per usual, even with full hands dipped in ranch and smoothie on laps! i got this pic right before he dumped it all over himself! haha
this kid LOVES fries! he eats at least a whole basket of them every time we go, and he loves the "dip" too. he kinda looks like that kid in the mccain french fries commercial - so careful about his ketchup and the little pinky pointed so as to be so careful with his beloved fries! so cute :) haha
i seriously just love this kid so much, and we had so much fun, and i love my mom n becks time - even though it was really fun to come home to my little monkey too! becks is getting so big and talking so much and is just a really funny happy little man, and he makes me smile every day :) love you bubs and can't wait for our next date!
