i can do it myself!

i'm kinda a clean person, and i kinda like clean kids, and i can admit that it's hard for me to watch them make a mess, especially with food in the kitchen in statia where the ants are waiting to attack the mess and drive me crazy yet again. therefore, it's taken me a while to let maddox taste the freedom of feeding himself. once i got back from my week in canada though, i felt a renewed sense of not sweating the small stuff and let him give it a whirl :) if only i'd known that he'd never go back........

 

 

it's one thing to give him a some pop rocks and a sucker to dip with. i mean, at least you get cute sour faces and big smiles and only 1 or 2 rocks on the floor.

 

next step - mac n cheese. i sat back and videoed him having the time of his life with this little bowl of mac n cheese, and i have to say i was pretty impressed with how good he was!

 

 

can you tell he's mine?!?! can't handle spilling one noodle without picking it up and putting back in the bowl - love it!

 

the night after the mac n cheese was this delicious tomato meatball soup that a friend made for us, and i sat down to feed mads, but he was not having it, at all! the freedom tasted too good, and we are in for many messes and smiles and ants and good "i can do it myself" times to come!

 

i just keep telling myself that there's nothing that lysol and a paper towel can't clean up and for heaven's sakes.....don't sweat the small stuff and let your kid play with his food! maybe i'll try it too :)
